With the lead partner Mangado Associados of Pamplona, Spain, the competition entry for the new library on the Tempelhof airfield proposed a clear separation of the public spaces at the base from the closed storage areas and administrative offices at the top.

The series of curved facade elements at the base are intended as references to the embracing gesture of the Tempelhof airport building, while at the same time offering spatial relationships between readers and the immediate surroundings of the library.

Distinct from the required meticulous space program, the design proposes an openness that would allow future changes in layout.
